Terms of Service
Last updated: June 16, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Sovei ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
These Terms incorporate by reference our Privacy Policy, which governs how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Sovei. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 13 years old and, if between 13 and 18, that your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Sovei is a comprehensive health and fitness tracking application that allows you to:
- Log nutrition, workouts, sleep, and other health metrics
- Upload and analyze lab results
- Track medications, supplements, and injuries
- Receive AI-powered health insights and personalized recommendations
- Monitor trends in your health data over time
- Connect with friends and participate in health challenges
- Sync with Apple Health, Google Fit, and Health Connect
- Track menstrual cycles and receive predictions
The Service is available through our web application and mobile apps (iOS and Android). Feature availability may vary by platform.
3. Medical Disclaimer - IMPORTANT
Sovei is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
The Service is intended for informational, educational, and personal tracking purposes only. Any health information, insights, or recommendations provided by the Service, including those generated by artificial intelligence, should not be considered medical advice.
You should:
- Always consult with qualified healthcare professionals before making any health-related decisions
- Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information from this Service
- Not use this Service as a substitute for professional medical care
- Seek immediate medical attention for any medical emergencies
- Inform your healthcare provider about any significant health data trends you observe
Regarding lab results analysis: The AI-powered lab result analysis is designed to help you understand your results, not to diagnose conditions. Lab values outside reference ranges do not necessarily indicate disease, and values within range do not guarantee health. Always review your lab results with your healthcare provider who has access to your complete medical history.
Regarding medication tracking: The Service helps you remember to take medications but does not verify drug interactions, contraindications, or appropriateness of medications. Always follow your healthcare provider's instructions for medication use.
Regarding nutrition and fitness: Calorie and macro targets are estimates based on general formulas. Individual needs vary significantly based on health conditions, activity level, and other factors. Consult a registered dietitian or physician before making significant dietary changes.
4. Labs Feature Terms
By using the lab results upload and analysis feature, you acknowledge and agree that:
4.1 Privacy-First Processing
- Your PDF lab report or photo is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to our servers
- The lab values you choose to save are encrypted on your device with a key only you hold — we store only scrambled data we can't read
- Personal identifying information (name, DOB, address, SSN, MRN) is automatically removed before any data is transmitted
- Only de-identified lab values (marker name, value, unit, reference range) are sent to AI services for analysis
- The AI cannot determine whose lab results it is processing
- You are responsible for reviewing extracted data before saving it to your account
4.2 Accuracy Limitations
- Automated extraction may not capture all values or may occasionally misread values due to document quality, formatting variations, or OCR limitations
- You should always verify extracted values against your original lab report
- Reference ranges may vary between laboratories; always refer to your lab's specific ranges
- We are not responsible for errors in automated data extraction
- AI analysis is educational only and does not constitute medical interpretation
4.3 Your Responsibilities
- You must have the legal right to access and use any lab reports you upload
- You should not upload lab reports belonging to other individuals without their explicit consent
- You are responsible for the security of lab report files on your device
- You should discuss any concerning results with a qualified healthcare provider
5. Medication Tracking Terms
By using the medication tracking feature, you acknowledge and agree that:
5.1 Not a Pharmacy or Medical Service
- Sovei is not a pharmacy, medical provider, or medication management service
- We do not prescribe, dispense, or recommend medications
- We do not verify drug interactions or contraindications
- You must follow your healthcare provider's instructions for all medications
5.2 Reminder Limitations
- Medication reminders are provided as a convenience feature only
- You should not rely solely on our reminders for critical medications
- We are not liable for missed doses due to notification failures, app errors, or device issues
- You are responsible for taking medications at the correct times and dosages
5.3 Data Privacy
- Your medication list is encrypted on your device with a key only you hold — we store only scrambled data we can't read
- Your medication data is never shared with insurance companies, employers, or third parties
- When medication data is processed by AI, it is associated only with an anonymous identifier — AI providers cannot determine your identity
- See our Privacy Policy for complete details on medication data handling
6. AI Features & Limitations
Sovei uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized insights, recommendations, and analysis. By using AI features, you acknowledge:
6.1 AI Limitations
- AI recommendations are generated by machine learning models and may contain errors
- AI does not have access to your complete medical history, current health status, or circumstances beyond what you provide to the Service
- AI cannot replace the judgment of qualified healthcare professionals
- AI-generated content should be verified with authoritative sources
- AI models may occasionally produce inaccurate or inappropriate responses
6.2 Data Sent to AI Providers
Before your data is sent to AI providers:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, location, contact details, appearance) are never sent
- Health metrics (age, weight, height, sex) are shared for accurate recommendations
- All data is associated with an anonymous identifier only
- The AI cannot identify you personally or contact you
6.3 AI Providers
You can use AI in two ways. With Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK), you supply your own API key and your requests go directly to the provider you choose — currently xAI (Grok), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), or a local or OpenAI-compatible endpoint. That data is handled under your own account and that provider's terms, not ours.
When Sovei provides AI directly (without your own key), we only use providers that contractually agree not to train their models on the data we send, and we de-identify it first so it cannot be tied back to you. Your health information is used to generate responses for you, not to improve general AI models.
7. Your Data Rights
Your health data and the personal details in your profile — your name, date of birth, biological sex, height, weight, activity level, and goals — are end-to-end encrypted with a key only you hold. Our servers store only scrambled data we can't read. The one exception is Easy Recovery, which you turn on yourself: if you enable it, we keep a spare key so we can help you back into your account if you forget your password. Our Transparency page lists exactly what we can and cannot read under each setting.
Where your data is stored depends on your plan. On the free plan, everything you log and track stays on your own device — none of your health data is ever stored on our servers. The encrypted, scrambled copy described above is only kept on our servers when you turn on cloud backup to sync across your devices, which is available on our paid plans. Even then, what reaches our servers is scrambled data we can't read.
A small, separate set of account data is kept in a form we can read — apart from your encrypted health data: your email and username; your public display name and avatar if you use the social features; your billing details (handled by our payment processor, Stripe — we never see your card number); basic operational information such as device and security logs; and coarse marketing data — how you found us (the campaign or referral source) and a separate, anonymous age-band-and-sex segment that is not linked to your account. None of the health data or profile details above are in this set, and we never share the marketing data with advertising platforms.
You have comprehensive rights over your data. Key rights include:
- Access: View all of your data at any time
- Export: Download your data in standard formats (JSON, CSV)
- Correction: Correct any inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and data
- Portability: Take your data to another service
We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for complete details on data handling, third-party sharing, and your rights.
8. User Accounts
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access at [email protected]
- Providing accurate and complete information when creating your account
- Keeping your account information up to date
Because your health data is encrypted with a key only you hold, keeping your account credentials and recovery information safe is what keeps your data both private and accessible to you — so use a strong, unique password. If you'd like a safety net in case you ever lose access, you can turn on Easy Recovery from your account settings.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Use the Service if you are under 13 years of age
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Upload malicious content, viruses, or harmful code
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
- Share your account credentials with others
- Upload lab reports or health data belonging to others without their consent
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Harass, bully, or harm other users through social features
- Post false or misleading health information in community features
- Circumvent rate limits or other technical restrictions
Violation of these rules may result in immediate account termination without refund.
10. Subscriptions and Payments
10.1 Free and Paid Features
Some features of the Service require a paid subscription ("Sovei Premium"). Features available to free and paid users may change over time. We will notify subscribers before removing features from their plan.
10.2 Pricing
Current pricing is displayed on our website and in the app. Prices may change with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not affect current billing periods.
10.3 Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. You authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees incurred. Payment is processed securely through Stripe.
10.4 Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will send a reminder email before renewal for annual plans.
10.5 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access to paid features until the end of the period.
10.6 Refunds
Because Sovei has a free plan you can use to evaluate the app before you pay, and because you can cancel anytime to stop future charges, subscription fees are generally non-refundable. The specifics depend on your plan:
- Monthly plans: non-refundable. You can cancel anytime; your access continues until the end of the current month and you are not charged again.
- Annual plans: you have 30 days from each charge — your first annual term and every renewal alike — to request a refund of the annual fee minus one month of service. We keep one month because premium features carry direct per-use costs we cannot recover. After 30 days the annual fee is non-refundable; you can cancel anytime to stop the next renewal.
Regardless of your plan, we will refund or credit you for a duplicate or incorrect charge, a billing error, or our failure to provide the service (such as an extended outage) — and we will always honor refunds required by law.
Contact [email protected] for refund requests.
10.7 Discounts
We offer discounts to students, military personnel, and healthcare workers. Discount eligibility is verified through SheerID. Discounts cannot be combined with other offers.
10.8 Refunds, Disputes, and Affiliate Commissions
When a payment is refunded or disputed (chargeback), access to paid features ends immediately and your subscription is canceled. If your account was referred through the affiliate program, the corresponding commission is held until the chargeback window closes (120 days). If the payment is refunded or disputed during that window, the matching commission is clawed back automatically.
11. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, functionality, design, and branding are owned by Sovei and are protected by copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws.
11.1 Your Data
You retain full ownership of your data.
Your health data is end-to-end encrypted with a key only you hold, so our servers store only scrambled data we can't read — any processing or display of it happens on your own devices. The limited, non-exclusive license you grant us is only what we need to store and sync that encrypted data and to run the account features described in our Privacy Policy. We will not sell your data, and we will not use it for any purpose other than providing and improving the Service.
11.2 User Content
If you contribute content to community features (comments, challenges, activity feed), you grant us a license to display that content to other users as part of the Service. You may delete your contributions at any time.
Profile photos are handled per the Privacy Policy: free accounts keep the photo on your device only; paid accounts with cloud sync turned on upload the photo to our servers so it can sync across your devices and be visible to the audience you choose. The license you grant us to display your profile photo is limited to that audience and ends when you remove the photo or delete your account.
11.3 Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us the right to use that feedback without compensation or attribution.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT
- WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS OR (B) $100 USD
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY HEALTH DECISIONS YOU MAKE BASED ON INFORMATION FROM THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DECISIONS ABOUT MEDICATIONS, TREATMENTS, OR LIFESTYLE CHANGES
- WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ERRORS IN AI-GENERATED CONTENT, AUTOMATED DATA EXTRACTION, OR THIRD-PARTY SERVICE FAILURES
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sovei and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Content you submit to the Service
- Your negligence or intentional misconduct
14. Termination
14.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time through Settings → Your Data → Delete Account. Two deletion paths exist and they behave differently — the specifics are in Section 14.3.
- Per-category data deletion (e.g. nutrition, workouts, sleep, or a date range): the rows enter a 30-day soft-deletion recovery window.
- Full-account deletion: enters a 30-day recovery window. Your account is paused right away and permanently deleted after 30 days unless you cancel by signing back in or using the link we email you.
14.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent or illegal activity
- Harassment of other users
- Abuse of the Service or our support team
- Non-payment of subscription fees
14.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may export your data before termination. Termination does not affect any accrued rights or obligations.
Per-category data deletion (deleting a single category, e.g. all your sleep logs) enters a 30-day soft-deletion recovery window. During this window the rows are hidden from the app but can be recovered from Settings → Privacy. After 30 days the rows are permanently and irreversibly deleted, except where retention is required by law (see our Privacy Policy for the legally-required retention list).
Full-account deletion enters a 30-day recovery window. When you confirm deletion (after re-entering your password), your account is paused right away and we email you a one-click link to cancel. During those 30 days you can restore your account by signing back in or using that link. After 30 days, your account and every health-data table tied to it, along with your sign-in record, are permanently deleted and can no longer be recovered. Export your data first if you may want it later.
If you believe your account was compromised, change your password right away. If a deletion was started without your knowledge, the cancel link in the email we send (or simply signing back in) stops it any time during the 30-day window.
15. Dispute Resolution
15.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will attempt to respond within 30 days and work toward a resolution.
15.2 Arbitration
If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will be conducted in English, and the arbitrator's decision will be final and binding.
15.3 Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes only on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
15.4 Exceptions
Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property infringement or to prevent irreparable harm pending arbitration.
15.5 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles.
16. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes:
- Minor Changes: We will update the "Last updated" date
- Material Changes: We will notify you by email and/or through the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect
Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
17. General Provisions
17.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sovei regarding the Service.
17.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
17.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision.
17.4 Assignment
You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets.
17.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, labor disputes, or government actions.
